Kota Ibushi & HARASHIMA & Antonio Honda vs. Shingo Takagi & BxB Hulk & Cyber Kong 20:37. Super fast paced match with everyone going all out to do a match of the year. Ibushi vs. BxB was everything their singles match on the 4/13/07 original DDG show was supposed to be. Just wild athletic stuff that was hard to keep up with, if not believe, going back and forth pulling crazy athletic counters. Takagi was an absolute beast, just charging full speed and hammering people. KO-D champion HARASHIMA couldn't even phase him during their first segment, and it was a good thing Takagi tagged or he might have broken HARASHIMA in two! HARASHIMA kept coming at Takagi though, and began to make a dent later on with his strong kicks. Kong & Honda were obviously nowhere near the others, but Honda's segments were generally good anyways. In particular, he worked a fast and brutal segment with Takagi that was arguably as good as what HARASHIMA was doing with Takagi. In addition to the obvious pairings delivering, they made good use of the numbers. These guys were all over the place, coming at each other from all angles. Hulk started out doing a dropkick to Ibushi, but wound up using Kota's chest to turn it into a moonsault on Honda. The DDT team generally seemed overmatched and Honda was the super whipping boy. He even sustained a bloody nose coming down face first when BxB landed a springboard neal kick that flipped him off Takagi's shoulders. This was one of those matches you didn't want to end. ****

Open the Dream Gate Title Match: CIMA vs. Ryo Saito 13:03 of 22:09. CIMA's left arm was taped from shoulder to elbow, so Saito worked on it early. CIMA sold the arm between moves, but it was still the expected non-stop action match with signature moves back and forth. The second half was pretty much one near fall after another, with both guys eventually wobbling around, surviving on willpower alone. It wasn't exactly well thought out, in fact probably the only thought was they'd do every move they could think of and the other guy would kick out, but the quality of the action was really high. ***1/2 range

Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Shingo Takagi 12:25 of 16:25. The big bombers of DDT & DGPW square off in this stiff, technically sound heavyweight match. It was interesting from the outset and built well, but it was kind of short and wasn't their big match effort. Sekimoto dominated this hard hitting power wrestling match at his more methodical pace. It picked up with Takagi's comeback, and stayed hot for the finish. Takagi took a nice flip bump on a powerful Sekimoto lariat, but there was nothing exceptionally awe inspiring just very consistent quality wrestling. ***1/4 range

PAC was just flipping all over the place. Yokosuka & Saito mostly double teamed. Their timing was really on, and they showed a lot of good teamwork in addition to being a nice base for the opposition's flying. This wasn't a deep match, the champs tossed and slammed the challengers and the challengers flew around, but they worked really hard to deliver big action. ***1/2 range

Open the Dream Gate Title Contendership: BxB Hulk vs. Shingo Takagi 27:30 of 60:00. A match of this length takes them far out of their element, but they were smart enough to pull it off. They had to slow down the pace to work this long, but instead of stalling, they did moves worthy of selling for 30 seconds or a minute. It wasn't as glamourous or awe-inspiring as a 20 minute match may have been, but they worked their asses off, and in a way, it was better than their usual match because the moves actually meant something. I felt the presence of all the WORLD-1 and Real Hazzard wrestlers at ringside was generally an aid, as their shouting and pounding the canvas for their boy urged them on and gave the match an added level of drama and aura. I could have lived without the interference, but it mainly during the one segment with the ref bump. Hulk wasn't only overmatched by having to take on the beast, but he also hurt his knee getting suplexed to the floor. This wasn't a one-sided match though, as Hulk always fought back valiantly. Takagi jacknifed Hulk into a table and piledriving him through, but Hulk later used the table half to bust Takagi open. It also wasn't a spot oriented match, or rather they told a decent story and incorporated the moves well so it seemed to have substance. As the match went the distance no #1 contender was declared, and soon after the match there was no champion for him to face, as CIMA vacated the title to heal his injuries. ***1/2 range

Shingo Takagi & Cyber Kong & YAMATO vs. BxB Hulk & Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino 14:15 of 24:53. Rapidfire action main event that moves so fast you need a scorecard. Takagi looked awesome, doing a great job of making people want to see his PPV singles match against Hulk, who was also on top of his game. They were the main focus, and all the heat was on them, doing all the fast and exciting power vs. speed spots they didn't do in their 60:00 draw on 6/29/08. The match is also quite good when Takagi is in with Doi or Yoshino, though lacking the intensity and urgency. YAMATO was so non-descript I already forgot his parts, but what really kept it down is they insist on putting bland, mediocre, and not always convincing Kong over as a monster. He kept doing this standing lariat or something, and he'd so obviously just swipe over the top of the opponent's head everytime it was kind of funny. ***1/2 range

Daisuke Sekimoto & Shingo Takagi vs. Masato Tanaka & Tetsuhiro Kuroda 15:20 of 20:00. They worked hard despite the small crowd, but the short time limit hurt. There were some big moves such as Takagi hitting an avalanche style Death Valley bomb, but there really wasn't even the threat of a finish. Takagi wasn't that great during the slow early portion, but stood out as soon as the pace picked up. His stuff with Tanaka down the stretch was as good as Sekimoto's, which says a lot given how well Tanaka and Sekimoto work together. Kuroda obviously isn't in the class with the others, but was taking it seriously and trying to fit in. No complaints that he played a minor role, but to his credit he wasn't a negative. ***

Summer Adventure Tag League II One Night Tournament Final: Masato Yoshino & Naruki Doi vs. Shingo Takagi & Dragon Kid 20:57 of 25:52. The early portion wasn't that great with no one being at their best, but they made up for it in the second half. There was a story involving Takagi injuring his arm, which kept him from being able to follow up his own strikes, but of course their calling card was doing innumerable spectacular moves. What set this match apart is they had everyone believing it was over when in fact they were just warming up. The fans were really loud because they believed in all the big moves as finishers. I thought the highlight was actually rather early on when Takagi sat on the middle rope with Doi on his shoulders, and Dragon tried to Frankensteiner Doi off, but Doi turned it into a powerbomb. ***1/2

Meandering inconsistent match that had moments of brilliance, but had a hard time capitalizing on them, and tended to revert back to unskilled striking and brawling. The early portion was pretty lame, as they plodded around the arena hitting each other. It seemed like every time someone did a good move, someone else would come over and hit them, so no one ever put anything together and there was no flow to the match. Once everyone got in, it turned into a good match because they began to use teamwork rather than just switching off by having stroll over and interrupt the action. There were a number of impressive double, triple, and quadruple team or sequential move spots. Even though he's not that familiar with these guys, Shinobu stood out during the fast action because he's used to the high pace and perfect timing required from MEN'S Club. He also showed the most impressive offense. Shisa also had a good match, even scoring a few surprising pinfalls. **3/4

Katsuhiko Nakajima & Masaaki Mochizuki vs. Fujita "Jr." Hayato & Munenori Sawa 14:46. Young indy tough guys Hayato & Sawa got a chance to shine against the more famous kickers in this Battlarts style match. It was 75% quasi shoot style, 25% junior style, but certainly 100% badass. Although they are scattered amongst the small promotions, they did a good job of making you feel they disliked each other, or at least enjoy putting a hurting on whomever they may be facing. It was a very aggressive match in the best possible way, but it never really felt whole, or perhaps purposeful. I enjoyed what they did, but at the same time the match didn't really drag me in or move me. **3/4

Naruki Doi & BxB Hulk & Madoka vs. Shingo Takagi & Ryo Saito & Dragon Kid 21:44 of 29:35. Really good action match with everyone but bland unskilled Saito shining. Madoka was the one who didn't belong, the outsider wrestling for the bigger promotion, so he was the most motivated. I felt like he was more or less as good as anyone too, showing some impressive flying and working the speed vs. power sequences with Shingo where he had to be exceptionally evasive because Shingo would lay him out with a single chop. The one downside of the match was there was too much pointless brawling in the middle of the match. I guess it's fine for Saito since what is he going to do anyway, but I can certainly find better things for Shingo to do than chasing Doi with an umbrella. The match picked up considerably down the stretch, and Takagi's sequences with everyone were really good, though I'd rank the order as Madoka, BxB, and then Doi a distant third. BxB was better with Dragon today, and that was potentially the 2nd best pairing, although there wasn't enough of it. Doi wasn't as involved or good as usual, but Takagi, Dragon, BxB, and Madoka made up for it. ***1/2

Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Masaaki Mochizuki 9:04 of 20:00 & 4:51 of 5:00. A nice power vs. striker match that didn't really progress that, despite going 25 minutes, didn't really progress that far because it was a small show. Mochizuki took it to Sekimoto with his strikes, trying for quantity over quality. He landed some nice blows and did his best to use his quickness to evade Sekimoto's attacks, but would get in trouble once Sekimoto got a hold of him. Mochizuki began countering Sekimoto's power, and was able to get him down and use his submissions to negate it. It was a well worked match that had a lot to offer, but it felt like they were halfway through the body when the 10 minute time limit ran out. The overtime helped, but still I never felt as though either man was within miles of winning. ***1/4 range
