12/30/00:

Kaoru Ito will defend the WWWA Sekai Single Senshuken against Etsuko Mita on 1/3 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Ito will win. In addition to NanaMomo defending against LCO, 1/4 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall has Miho Wakizawa defending the Zen Nihon Senshuken against Kayo Noumi (Noumi may actually win), Toyota vs. Hotta, Watanabe vs. Takako, & Ito vs. Maekawa.

12/23:

Mima Shimoda's 30th birthday present from AJW was winning Tag League The Best '00. Manami Toyota & Kayo Noumi, surprisingly, finished with 7 points. Shimoda & Mita came into the final league match with 6 points while Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi had 5. They went to a 30:00 draw, which is worth 1 point each, so Shimoda & Mita tied Toyota & Noumi with 7 points. Shimoda & Mita then defeated Toyota & Noumi in 13:33 when Mita pinned Toyota. The win earned Las Cachorras a rematch for the WWWA Sekai Tag Senshuken with Nakanishi & Takahashi on 1/4/01 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Since NanaMomo defeated LCO in the finals of WWWA tag title decision tournament on 7/16, the chances of them successfully defending here are very slim.

12/3: Watanabe Puts Career On The Line, Candy Announcers Hers Is Over

12/3 Tokyo Korakuen Hall 1,730
Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita & Kumiko Maekawa beat Tomoko Watanabe & Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi when Mita pinned Watanabe at 17:39. Watanabe bled and was pinned due to Maekawa's "foul attack." Maekawa said she'd force Watanabe into retirement. Watanabe responded saying she'd put her career and the All Pacific Senshuken up to get Maekawa into the ring. The match should take place on 12/24 at Kanagawa Yokohama Bunka Taiikukan. Watanabe has promised to retire immediately if she loses.
Yumiko Hotta made Takako Inoue submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 7:04.
Carol Midori & Sayori Okino defeated Kaoru Ito & Miho Wakizawa when Midori used a Victoria driver on Wakizawa at 19:56.

Kaoru Ito & Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi beat Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda & Kumiko Maekawa in a Kanaami 6 Woman Death Match under Escape Rule. It came down to Ito vs. Maekawa, with Ito escaping at 22:12.
Yumiko Hotta & Manami Toyota beat Shinobu Kandori & Noriyo Tateno when Toyota pinned Tateno in her Japanese ocean cyclone suplex hold at 17:26. Hotta should have at least pinned Tateno to regain some face after losing to Kandori the night before, although perhaps Hotta caused the opponents to lose by taking care of Kandori so she couldn't make the save?
Eagle Sawai & Takako Inoue beat Tomoko Watanabe & Kayo Noumi when Takako pinned Noumi at 11:28.
Kiyoko Yamamoto's pinned Miho Wakizawa pro-am special rule match at 3:51. Apparently tackles were legal because Yamamoto tacked Wakizawa then used her amateur wrestling skills. Yamamoto,20, is world champ in women's amateur wrestling at 56 kg, and would like to be on the 2004 Olympic team (if women's wrestling becomes an Olympic sport) so she hasn't joined the promotion or anything.

11/20:

Amateur wrestling champion Kiyoko Yamamoto's match won't be against another amateur wrestler on 11/23. Instead, she'll fight someone from AJW in a match where the rules are theoretically halfway between pro and amateur wrestling. Some of the rules are that you need a 3 count to win (pro), no tackles (her concession), and no strikes (pro concession).

10/26:

AJW announced their big card for 11/23 called Yoyogi Joshi Wrestling Festival. The semifinal match, Manami Toyota & Yumiko Hotta vs. Shinobu Kandori & Noriyo Tateno, will be rematch from the previous nights L-1 except this time it's a tag and not supposed to be a shoot. My guess is that Kandori will win at the L-1 and Hotta will get a near worthless victory over Tateno in exchange. I believe the main event, Kaoru Ito & Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi vs. Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita & Kumiko Maekawa, is the first ever 6 woman cage match in Japan. It's good that they are putting Maekawa with LCO since she helped them win in the tag league, but why isn't the person she betrayed, Tomoko Watanabe, in the match. The AJW team has the single and tag champions, but it would make more sense to have Watanabe in Ito's place since she's been more involved in the program against LCO and has the biggest grudge against Benedict Maekawa. Instead Watanabe teams with Kayo Noumi, who she's almost never teamed with, against Eagle Sawai & Takako Inoue. I don't think I need to tell anyone who will be doing the job in that match. The other pro wrestling matches are Miho Wakizawa vs. Kayoko Haruyama, so there's token JWP involvement, and Miyuki Fujii vs. Chiwe Terashita. Amateur wrestler Kiyoko Yamamoto from Nihon University will have an exhibition match with another amateur wrestler. Apparently Yamamoto will join AJW once she graduates.

10/15:

10/15 Tokyo Korakuen Hall 1,630
Tag League The Best started, but it's not turning out like anyone expected. Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita (2) defeated Tomoko Watanabe & Kumiko Maekawa (0) when Mita Death Valley bombed Watanabe at 8:26. That's not too surprising, except the reason Watanabe lost was her long time partner Maekawa betrayed cooperated with Shimoda, both giving a bloody Watanabe a kakato otoshi while Mita had her in Death Valley bomb position. Maekawa was celebrating the 10th anniversary of her debut, and decided that by this point it's time she makes her own decisions and accomplishes things on her own.
Manami Toyota & Kayo Noumi (2) beat Kaoru Ito & Miho Wakizawa (0) when Toyota pinned Wakizawa in her Japanese ocean cyclone suplex hold at 19:42.
Eagle Sawai & Takako Inoue defeated Momoe Nakanishi & Miyuki Fujii when Takako pinned Fujii at 17:36. Takako & Fujii were supposed to be one of the 7 teams in Tag League The Best, but Takako is refusing to tag with the young scrub. Didn't they do a similar angle with Hotta not wanting to team with Fujii a year ago? Anyway, with Watanabe & Maekawa split up and Takako & Fujii never together, the league is already down to 5 teams.
Yumiko Hotta drew Nanae Takahashi.

Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita beat Manami Toyota & Miho Wakizawa when Mita Death Valley bombed Wakizawa at 24:38.
Tomoko Watanabe made her first successful defense of the All Pacific Senshuken, pinning Momoe Nakanishi in her screw driver at 15:58. Watanabe said she'd like to wrestle current WWWA Sekai Single Senshuken holder Kaoru Ito to unify the titles.
Chiwe Terashita, 19, & Mika Nishio, 18, made their debuts after training for 1/2 a year. Nishio, whose background is amateur wrestling, beat Terashita, whose background is karate in 7:07.

Manami Toyota went to a 30:00 draw with Tomoko Watanabe.

9/22:

In another really weak main event Manami Toyota & Kumiko Maekawa beat Miho Wakizawa & Kayo Noumi when Maekawa pinned Noumi at 18:22 following her kakato otoshi. If Noumi or Fujii must be in the main event, why not at least have them win a match or two first?
Kaoru Ito pinned Miho Wakizawa at 13:51.
Yumiko Hotta pinned Nanae Takahashi at 17:39. Hotta is going to be training with Antonio Inoki and co because in addition to the L-1 on 11/22, she's doing a Vale Tudo match on the 11/23 AJW show. Her opponent on 11/23 is probably going to be a woman boxer that Antonio Inoki is recommending. If both of these matches are going to be legit than this is a really goofy idea because Hotta is going to have 3 matches on 11/22 unless she loses, and even if she doesn't lose she's likely to take a beating in the process. It wouldn't even make sense for someone that is a full-time shooter to try something like this (although I'm sure it's been done), much less someone who does works all the time because the stress you put on your body working and shooting are very different.

Kaoru Ito captured the WWWA Sekai Single Senshuken for the first time, ending Manami Toyota's 9 month reign when she pinned her at 24:02. Toyota was beating Ito with her flying, but Ito turned it around with 7 double footstomps in succession. Finally, Ito gave Toyota a nadare shiki no powerbomb two diving footstomps for the win. this match, with the final one finally doing Toyota in. This is kind of a risky move because Toyota has been their only strong draw, while Ito has never drawn in singles. It's probably a case of Ito hanging around long enough because the only other wrestler in the league that's held this title is Yumiko Hotta, who already had two failed title reigns so we really didn't need to see a third from her. Ito had failed in her three previous challenges over the past four years (against Kyoko and Hotta). Ito at least has some real momentum now, as she had earned the title shot by winning this years Japan Grand Prix. Ito challenged any Sydney Olympian to face her on the big AJW show at Tokyo Kokuritsu Yoyogi Taiikukan 2 on 11/23.
Black Joker defeated Kumiko Maekawa & Momoe Nakanishi & Kayo Noumi.when Eagle pinned Noumi at 22:48.

NanaMomo's first defense of the WWWA Sekai Tag Senshuken will be against MihoKayo on 9/23 at Hakata Starlane. This guarantees that NanaMomo will make one successful defense, but with these opponents, it's a case where they titles lose credibility rather than NanaMomo gaining some. Wakizawa also gets a shot at Nanae's Zen Nihon Single Senshuken on 9/17 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. I could see this title changing hands, and that definitely would not be a bad thing.

Kaoru Ito won 3 tournament matches in one night en route to winning the Japan Grand Prix for the second time. Although the tournament started last month, Ito didn't have her first round match against Reggie Bennett until tonight. After taking out Reggie with a heel hold, she made her partner Tomoko Watanabe submit to a wakigatame 12:27 into their semifinal match. Meanwhile, her long time rival Etsuko Mita upset Yumiko Hotta, pinning the former WWWA world single champion at 12:34. 7/20 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
In a Championship match of the JGP 2000 21st century league, Nanae Takahashi pinned Momoe Nakanishi in all of 7:44 to advance to the "senior" tournament. This isn't surprising because Wakizawa made it out of the youngster league in 1998 to get to job in the semifinals and Momoe made it to a triangle match for the last spot in the final last year. The problem is Takahashi has no skill or athletic ability, so she isn't pushable despite all their "efforts." She'll have one lousy match against Etsuko Mita in the tournament where Mita will avenge her loss to Nanae on 7/16 and that will be it for the younger wrestlers this year.
In the first Japan Grand Prix 2000 Tournament match, Manami Toyota pinned Mima Shimoda in her Japanese ocean cyclone suplex hold at 17:14. This sets up the winner of the Toyota vs. Hotta match taking on Mita in the semifinal. The other bracket has the normal 4 wrestlers instead of 5, with Ito vs. Reggie Bennett and a battle of tag partners with Tomoko Watanabe vs. Kumiko Maekawa. The tag partner theme should continue, as I expect Bennett will lose.

ZAP I & T defeated Yumiko Hotta & Momoe Nakanishi when I pinned Momoe at 16:02. This is just another example of how hopeless it is to think AJW will ever get any new wrestlers over. The show after NanaMomo defeats LCO to win the tag titles, they already have Momoe jobbing to ZAP. How is anyone supposed to gain anything from a win when they immediately put them right back in their old jobber role?

7/16:

In a big upset, NanaMomo defeated LCO to become the 109 holders of the WWWA Sekai Tag Senshuken. The pinfall came when Takahashi used her Nanarocker on Mita at 22:02. Nakanishi (at least) was bloodied during the match. The loss for LCO is somewhat equivalent to the loss to Ayako Hamada & AKINO, but those two are worlds better than Nanae and had made several title defenses even if not against strong teams. Hopefully AJW will be "smart enough" not to follow this up by having Toyota & Hotta form a team and immediately take the titles...
ZAP I & T defeated Manami Toyota & Kumiko Maekawa when I pinned Maekawa at 17:38.

LCO and NanaMomo advanced to the finals of the WWWA tag tournament. Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita beat Tomoko Watanabe & Kumiko Maekawa in the semifinal when Shimoda pinned Maekawa at 24:23, while Nanae Takahashi & Momoe Nakanishi defeated the JWP team of Command Bolshoi & Tsubasa Kuragaki when Momoe pinned Tsubasa in a henkei kaiten ebigatame at 16:36.
Yumiko Hotta & Kaoru Ito beat Manami Toyota & Reggie Bennett when Hotta pinned Reggie at 21:14.
Tomoko Watanabe captured the All Pacific Senshuken, pinning Azumi Hyuga at 14:31. It's pointless to put this belt on Watanabe because she has no upward mobility, but it was a given that it would happen when Azumi & Clown got that "helpful" DQ win over ZAPS to bring the JWP tag titles home.

7/14:

7/14 Tokyo Fuji TV Uchi 7F Okujo Teien 1,560
Manami Toyota successfully defended the WWWA Sekai Single Senshuken against LLPW's Eagle Sawai, scoring the pinfall with her moonsault press at 19:14. This was the first (and hopefully last) time LLPW's #2 star, Eagle, ever challenged for the coveted red belt.
There were no upsets in the first round of the tournament to crown new WWWA tag champions. The previous tag champs who vacated the belts, Tomoko Watanabe & Kumiko Maekawa, beat Yumiko Hotta & JWP's Kayoko Haruyama when Maekawa pinned Haruyama at 15:55. Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita beat the Jd' team of Yuko Kosugi & Obatchi Iizuka when Mita pinned Obatchi at 17:56. Any team of Jd' wrestlers would be major underdogs against LCO, but sending the clown Obatchi just makes it a joke. At least Kosugi has a good reason not to be able to compete with the top free agent stars this way. Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi defeated MihoKayo when Takahashi pinned Noumi at 20:26.

7/12:

Former World Amateur Wrestling Queen Miyu Yamamoto's debut was postponed because she hasn't had enough time to prepare for it. They were probably rushing her because they wanted her to make her debut on a big TV taping, but realized it wouldn't have been an impressive debut so they thought better of it..

In a Japan Grand Prix 2000 21 Seiki (Century) League Match, Miyuki Fujii pinned Momoe Nakanishi in la magistral at 12:29. This makes no sense whatsoever. Fujii is the bottom of the barrel in AJW both for talent and push. Momoe is their best worker and the only wrestler in this junior league that can really hang with the veterans. I realize something has to be done to keep the points of the top wrestlers in this league down, but Momoe, Wakizawa, and Takahashi always trade wins so win, lose, or draw none of them are helped or hurt. Losing to Fuji is pointless because Fujii is too unskilled and uncharismatic to be helped, so the only possible result is that Momoe is hurt.
