HYPER VISUAL FIGHTING ARSION

6/23:

6/23 Hokkaido Asahigawa Onari Shimin Center Taiikukan
In the final tag league match, CAZAI went to a draw with Re:DRAGS, so both teams finished tie for first at 2-1-1 for 5 points. The final is tomorrow. It's good that Aja didn't put herself in the final, but of course the only reason she wasn't there is that Candy and Takase switched sides, so Re:DRAGS could be pushed more while Takase jobbed for Aja's team.
In the main event, Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida beat Michiko Omukai & Yumi Fukawa when Aja pinned Omukai at 16:13.
Mari Apache pinned Bionic J at 8:08.

However, there is supposed to be a final so unless there is a draw they'll have to have a tournament to decide which of the other 4 get into the final.

5/7: Aja Is Glorified, WCW Screws New Japan...Again

HYPER VISUAL FIGHTING TOURNAMENT ARS 2000 5/7 Tokyo Korakuen Hall
Pretty much everyone that I've come across who follows ARSION knows that one of their problems is they have no credible challengers for champion Aja Kong. Thus, it's hardly a reach to predict that the whole point of this tournament would be to create a new challenger. Instead, they did the worst possible thing, they had Aja beat 3 of the 4 women that could have been turned into a credible challenger by winning this tournament, with the other, Mima Shimoda, losing in the first round. Not only did she beat them, but she beat them quick. She didn't even log 20 minutes of ring time in the whole tournament. Unbelievable!
The tournament started off with Yumi Fukawa finally advancing past the first round by making Rie Tamada submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 6:04. This doesn't mean much, but is better than nothing.
GAMI beat Bionic J with a shotei at 4:28.
The big mystery turned out to be a wrestler that hasn't meant anything in Japan in close to a decade and was already wrestling on the current tour, Xochilt Hamada. Can you say Savio Vega. Etsuko Mita beat Xochilt in 5:23 with a ganso Death Valley bomb (ganso means she invented it).
The final match of the first round was the "marathon" of the tournament, with Mariko Yoshida beating Mima Shimoda in 12:04.
In the second round, Fukawa was back to her usual roll, as she put over Omukai at 7:32 when Omukai Tiger suplexed her.
Aja beat the promotion's top heel, GAMI, in just 3:00 when she used her old nadare shiki no suisha otoshi finisher.
Michiko Omukai beat Etsuko Mita in the semifinal, pinning her in the B3 bomb at 5:34. This was the best result of the tournament because it helps prove that Omukai is above Mita. It also made it look like Omukai would win her third straight tournament. It doesn't hurt her that she didn't, but there's no reason for her to challenge for the title again when she lost last time and lost to Aja here as well.
Aja Kong once again beat Mariko Yoshida, pinning her after the uraken at 9:55. Had Yoshida won this match then both her and Omukai could have been pretty good challengers. The ideal scenario for both to challenge would have been for the one that beat Aja to lose in the final, but Omukai winning 3 straight tournaments would have been excessive. Not that she doesn't need the push, but I'd rather push her in other areas because she's already gotten what she can right now out of winning tournaments.
In a match billed as CAZAI CONCLUSION, Candy Okutsu & AKINO & Ai Fujita beat Ayako Hamada & Mari Apache & Linda Starr when Ai used her firebird splash on Mari at 11:37.
Aja won her first tournament in ARSION when she pinned Omukai at 6:39 following her uraken.

4/7:

4/7 Kanagawa Kawasaki Shi Taiikukan 1,850
In somewhat of a surprise, Michiko Omukai turned out to be Mima Shimoda's partner and they defeated Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida when Shimoda Tiger suplexed Yoshida at 15:11 to win the TWINSTAR OF ARSION. Keith said the work was awesome and all four were superb. Aja did all her hard hitting moves, but Omukai was also doing a lot of power moves including hoisting the monster up for the B3 bomb. At one point Omukai & Shimoda did a double team that's kind of like the W Inoue's favorite move, with Shimoda holding Aja in B3 bomb position and Shimoda hitting her with an enzui knee before Omukai dropped her. Even though it was a choice match, it again showed the problems with ARSION's booking. This would be a good result at some point, but the timing, outside of being on a "major show," didn't make sense. No one paid for their stupid gimmick of the mystery VIP members that wasn't built up enough to mean anything, but since they ran a major show within traveling distance against one of the biggest shows of the year, it was a given that they'd do a typically bad big show number instead of the one time 3,600 number they got on 12/11 with LCO on top. Putting Omukai in the main event was good in the sense that she hasn't been relegated to a number three by joining Shimoda's group, but the titles are devalued when you have a team that hasn't even paired up in a one regular tag match in the two months that they've been in the same unit just up and winning the titles. Why couldn't they just put Shimoda & Omukai together and give them a push where they made it clear that the reason Omukai is Shimoda's regular partner is that she has surpassed Mita. The focus needs to be on Omukai to make people accept her on the top level, especially after they killed much of the momentum she gained in 1999. Don't throw her in there, make us buy into her belonging in this match. At the point where we at least start to, then you can consider putting the titles on her if you are willing to go all the way and have her pin Aja in a credible manner so we are forced to consider her a top star in this promotion. Instead we got the half-hearted hedging that makes it tough for any of the younger girls to become stars. It's like they wanted Omukair there, but were afraid to announce her name, and they wanted the titles on her, but were afraid to put her over. As a result, it's doubtful that this will have the kind of effect that they need it to, especially since it was lost in the shuffle even on the day it happened with Hashimoto retiring and Misawa beating Vader. Instead, since Omukai didn't prove she belonged by getting the pin, it'll likely be construed as Omukai pretty much only got a title because Shimoda was her partner. In the ring, as is almost always the case, the problems of the booking were overshadowed by the tremendous talent of the performers.
In a father and daughter tag match, Gran Hamada & Ayako Hamada defeated Apache & Fabi Apache in 8:47 when Ayako used her Hama-chan cutter on Fabi. The intergender match ARSION had on 12/11/99 was a total piece of sexist crap, but Keith said this one was actually really good because they kept the "comedy" to spots that didn't distract from the rest of the match and concentrated on work. Fabi's corkscrew plancha was said to be the spot of the night.
In the VIP vs. ReDrugs match, the VIP team of Etsuko Mita & Yumi Fukawa & Bionic J defeated GAMI & Rie Tamada & Hiromi Yagi when J used her whiplash on Tamada at 12:47. VIP all brought fans to the ring. ReDrugs were the heels here, brawling through the crowd and whatnot. Apparently Shimoda & Mita aren't hardcore or heels anymore. What a waste. J, who mainly relies on power moves, picked up a good win here. This was a very action packed match.
Candy Okutsu & Linda Starr beat Chaparrita ASARI & Ai Fujita when Candy powerbombed Ai at 12:50. Pointless filler?
AKINO made Rena Takase submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 6:16. Originally, Mari Apache was going to defend the SKY HIGH OF ARSION against AKINO, but Mari is out with a bad elbow so Takase took her place in a non-title match. This was a submission oriented match, with AKINO selling a lot for the rookie.
During the opening ceremony, they had a moment of silence for Emiko Kado, who passed away almost a year ago due to a brain injury suffered during a match.

3/26:

The major ARSION MILLENIUM PREMIUM show on 4/7 at Kanagawa Kawasaki Shi Taiikukan will have two members of VIP (LCO?) vs. Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida in a TWINSTAR OF ARSION Match and the other three members of VIP (Omukai, Fukawa, & J) vs. Female Dog Corps team of GAMI & Tamada & Yagi. There's a father and daughter mixed tag match with Gran & Ayako Hamada against El Apache & Fabi Apache. Meanwhile, Mari Apache defends the SKY HIGH OF ARSION title against AKINO. These should all be quality matches, but they'll be lucky if their legit attendance is half capacity. Not announcing which members of VIP will be in which match only makes the card sound less enticing because Shimoda & Mita are the only ones many fans might pay to see against Aja & Yoshida.

3/24:

3/24 Wakayama Kenritsu Taiikukan 400
Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida dropped Etsuko Mita & Yumi Fukawa when Aja used her suichiku rakka shiki no brainbuster on Fukawa at 16:08.

3/19:

3/19 Gifu Toki Shi Sports Center 560
Aja Kong & Ayako Hamada & AKINO defeated Mima Shimoda & Yumi Fukawa & Bionic J when AKINO made J submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 19:10.
Mariko Yoshida went to a 15;00 draw with GAMI.
To clarify the group situation, GAMI's group and Shimoda's group are both heel groups. Rookie Rena Takase is with GAMI's group. Fukawa comes to the ring with a fan like Utako Hozumi used to.
HYPER VISUAL FIGHTING TOURNAMENT ARS 2000 will be on 5/7 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall.

3/18:

3/18 Aichi Kasugai Shi Sogo Taiikukan 1,250
Mima Shimoda used a knuckle bat to defeat Mariko Yoshida at 11:23. Why this was the semifinal and not the main event is beyond me. This was probably too short for them to have the excellent match we'd expect them to have, but I wish we would have been able to see it to find out.
In the main event, Aja Kong & Mari Apache beat GAMI & Rie Tamada when Aja pinned Tamada with her suichoku rakka shiki no brainbuster (the move that's called a brainbuster in the US) at 14:34.
Yumi Fukawa & Bionic J defeated Candy Okutsu & Ai Fujita when Fukawa made Fujita submit to her dobitsuki udehishigigyakujujigatame (jumping takedown into a cross armbreaker) at 11:18.

3/17:

3/17 Aichi Okasaki Rokuna Taiikukan 1,050
GAMI & Rie Tamada defeated Aja Kong & AKINO when Tamada pinned AKINO with a stunner at 18:25.
Ayako Hamada pinned Bionic J at 10:42 with her swandive shiki no moonsault press.
Mima Shimoda & Yumi Fukawa beat the Apache sisters when Shimoda pinned Fabi at 12:47 following her deathlake drive.

3/16:

3/16 Aichi Waritsu (?) Fukushi Taiikukan 1,100
Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita & Bionic J beat Aja Kong & Candy Okutsu & AKINO when Shimoda pinned AKINO at 15:14 following her deathlake drive.

VIP is what the Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita & Michiko Omukai & Yumi Fukawa group is called. Bionic J is Jessie Bennett, and she joined the VIP group yesterday. VIP did challenge Aja & Yoshida to a TWINSTAR match on 4/7, but their representatives will probably be Shimoda & Mita.

3/15: Mari Is Sky High

3/15 Tokyo Korakuen Hall 1,350
Aja Kong & Mariko Yoshida made their first successful defense of the TWINSTAR OF ARSION, turning back the original champions Rie Tamada & Hiromi Yagi when Aja urakened Tamada at 19:09.
Mari Apache became the second SKY HIGH OF ARSION champion when she pinned Chaparrita ASARI at 12:16 following her Michinoku driver II (this has been the finisher in all 4 SKY title matches). This is a good move because ASARI has barely been around this year. In light of that, it would have made more sense to have had Yagi win the title from ASARI on 12/11, but we can give them the benefit of the doubt by saying they probably didn't know how little ASARI would be wrestling in ARSION this year at that time.
Candy Okutsu went to a 15:00 draw with GAMI.
New VIP member Bionic J (Jessie Bennett) beat AKINO in 7:33 with a move called whiplash. VIP challenged Aja & Yoshida to a TWINSTAR OF ARSION Title Match on 4/7 at Kanagawa Yokohama Bunka Taiikukan.
Rena Takase made her debut, submitting to an Ai Fujita gyakuebigatame (Boston crab) in 6:35.

3/5:

3/5 Shizuoka Act City Hamamatsu Tenji Event Hall 580
The new unit of Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita & Michiko Omukai & Yumi Fukawa teamed up for the first time, taking out CAZAI when Fukawa made Fujita submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 18:44.They are calling Shimoda's group VIP and Gami's group REDRUGS now.
Aja Kong went to a 15:00 draw with GAMI.

2/29:

ARSION has realignied of their roster into the following groups:
1) ARSION Seikigun (regular army) is Aja Kong, Mariko Yoshida, CAZAI, Apache sisters, and Linda Starr. They are doing an angle where Hamada & AKINO might break away from CAZAI and ARSION.
2) Las Cachorras Orientales are Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita, Michiko Omukai, & Yumi Fukawa. Omukai & Fukawa joined after the second Omukai & Shimoda vs. Fukawa & Mita match.
3) Jo Imegundan (Female Dog Corps) are Mikiko Futagami & Rie Tamada & Hiromi Yagi. This is a heel group. There is an angle where Candy was shocked by Yagi joining.

2/20:

2/20 Saitama Honkawagoe Pepe Hall Atlas 600
Mikiko Futagami was called GAMI and formed one of my dream tag teams in the main event, teaming with Hiromi Yagi to defeat Aja Kong & Candy Okutsu when Gami used an urashotei on Candy at 13:22. I really wish GAMI & Yagi would form a regular team because they could have awesome matches.
Rie Tamada beat Yumi Fukawa in just :19 seconds with something called a henkei captude. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt figuring there must have been some kind of extenuating circumstances or something here.
Mariko Yoshida went to a 5:00 draw with rookie Rena Takase.
