9/19:

On 10/28, Atsushi Onita will wrestle his first match for All Japan in since 1984. Onita's opponent isn't decided since it depends on how the title tournament goes, but they seem to be hinting that it'll be Masa Fuchi.

9/18:

The latest on the Koshinaka angle is that instead of just cooperating with Masa Fuchi against Masahiro Chono one time, Fuchi has asked Koshinaka to rejoin All Japan. The basis of Fuchi's argument is that, for the obvious reasons, All Japan needs him more than New Japan. Koshinaka is still saying that he's just helping all Japan out for one match.

9/9:

All Japan is looking for native men to enlist. They require 180 cm and at least 18 years old (although later they mention parental consent for minors) and ask applicants to send a personal history with height and weight written clearly, a topless photograph, a certificate from a doctor that says you are in good health (physical).

9/8:

Toshiaki Kawada is demanding New Japan sets aside section(s) of seats for All Japan fans in the Tokyo Dome since they will be in "enemy territory," and that could be "dangerous." Kawada swore to get drunk on good wine after beating Kensuke Sasaki. Sasaki is also very confident that he'll win, so Kawada said if Sasaki is so confident, he should put the IWGP title up for grabs.

9/5:

Shiro Koshinaka met with Motoko Baba about working some matches in All Japan. Koshinaka started out in All Japan and has been one of the key players in getting the sides to work together, so it's pretty much a given that he'll wrestle again there sooner or later. The angle seems to be that Koshinaka feels some allegiance to All Japan since he wrestled there for his first six years and the late Giant Baba was his teacher. He doesn't want to jump back or anything, but he realizes they are hurting and feels he can help them. Choshu might not want him to wrestle there (it depends what New Japan gets in return) though. Koshinaka might be able to wrestle in All Japan without Choshu's consent, but his position as staff officer might be in jeopardy if it seems like his allegiance isn't totally to New Japan. Koshinaka burned incense for Giant Baba for an hour before meeting with Motoko and also recieved medical treatment for his bad neck at some point in the day.

9/3:

Toshiaki Kawada is going to attend the 9/16 New Japan show at Nagoya Aichi-ken Taiikukan to evaluate his possibilities. Kawada has only seen New Japan on TV, so he wants to see what their shows are like and such before he decides if wrestling there would be a good idea and which guys he'd like to wrestle. There will probably wind up being a shouting match or something like that to set up his program.

9/2:

9/2 Tokyo Nippon Budokan 16,300 sellout
Stan Hansen & Genichiru Tenryu beat Toshiaki Kawada & Steve Williams when Hansen lariated Williams at 26:54. Tenryu beat Kawada's chest bloody.
Masahiro Chono pinned Masa Fuchi at 16:53 following his Yakuza kick. Fuchi was really over as Budokan is All Japan's "home building." Satoshi Kojima & Hiro Saito & Tatsu Goto were there to support Chono. They hit the ring after Chono won, with Goto tossing Taiyo Kea to the floor, so All Japan's ring was "dyed in the black of Team 2000." Kawada announced that he wanted to team with Taiyo Kea on New Japan's next series and face IWGP heavyweight champion Kensuke Sasaki on 10/9 at the Tokyo Dome to avenge this loss for All Japan.
Mike Barton & Johnny Smith & The Cedman defeated Taiyo Kea & Jinsei Shinzaki & Mohammad Yone when Barton pinned Yone in a high angle powerbomb at 13:46.
Masaaki Mochizuki & Yasushi Kanda & Susumu Mochizuki beat CIMA & SUWA & Sumo "Dandy" Fuji Nichi when Masaaki pinned Fuji in a Dragon suplex hold at 11:13.
Sabu pinned Damian 666 with a guillotine drop off the top rope at 12:53.
Super Parka won a triangle match over Halloween & Super Calo when he turned Calo's nadare shiki no Frankensteiner into a super power bomb at 9:04.
Nobutaka Araya & Yuto Aijima defeated Shigeo Okumura & Ryuji Hijikata when Araya pinned Hijikata in his moonsault press at 12:37.

Wolf Hawkfield, Giant Kimala, George Hines, & Scorpio will be back for the next tour.

9/1:

9/1 Chiba Ichihara Shi Rinkai Taiikukan 1,200
Toshiaki Kawada & Taiyo Kea & Jinsei Shinzaki beat Steve Williams & Mike Barton & The Cedman when Kea used his Hawaiian crusher on Cedman at 20:27.
Stan Hansen & Genichiru Tenryu downed Johnny Smith & Nobutaka Araya when Hansen lariated Araya at 9:49.
Sabu pinned Yuto Aijima at 8:44.
Masaaki Mochizuki & Yasushi Kanda & Susumu Mochizuki beat Damian 666 & Halloween & Super Parka when Kanda pinned 666 at 13:13 following his top rope elbow drop.
Masa Fuchi made Shigeo Okumura submit at 10:25. Fuchi keeps winning with a facelock type of move since the Chono match was announced. I guess the idea is that Fuchi wants to beat Chono with a better version of his own move.
If Masa Fuchi is defeated by Masahiro Chono tomorrow (given), then All Japan plans to have send Kawada to New Japan show(s) to defend the honor of the company. It's pretty much a given that Kawada will work New Japan's 10/9 Dome show, it's just a matter of if it will be in a singles match or not. It seems probably that they'll do a tag initially so the feud has more legs, so expect Kawada & partner vs. Chono & probably Tenzan. Supposedly they are actually considering having Kawada work New Japan's next series, but I'm pretty sure Choshu will realize how much that would be giving away for virtually nothing and nip it in the bud.

All Japan announced that for the first time since 1993, the winner of the Sekai Saikyo tag league will get the vacant Sekai Tag Senshuken. The league starts on 11/19. It looks like two of teams will be Fuchi & Fujiwara and Hansen & Williams. Hansen & Williams want to win the IWGP tag titles and then win this tournament so the All Japan and New Japan belts would be unified for the first time.

8/31:

8/31 Shizuoka Twin Messe Wing 1,200
Toshiaki Kawada & Stan Hansen & Genichiru Tenryu beat Steve Williams & Mike Barton & Johnny Smith when Kawada avenged his recent first job to Barton by taking him out with a jumping high kick at 20:34. Kawada & Tenryu did a double tackle early on.

Masa Fuchi & Yoshiaki Fujiwara defeated Shigeo Okumura & Yuto Aijima when Fujiwara used his wakigatame on Aijima at 13:50. What's the point of booking Fujiwara if he's going to be in the opening match?

8/29:

8/25 Niigata Nagaoka Shi Kosei Kaikan 2,400 sellout
Toshiaki Kawada & Taiyo Kea & Yoshiaki Fujiwara beat Stan Hansen & Genichiru Tenryu & Jinsei Shinzaki when Kawada powerbombed Shinzaki at 19:27. Kawada & Tenryu gave a preview of what their singles match would be like, beating the hell out of each other. The result was both men's chests turned red from being beat raw.
Steve Williams & Mike Barton beat Nobutaka Araya & Shigeo Okumura when Williams used his satsujin backdrop on Okumura at 13:00.
Johnny Smith used his British fall on The Cedman at 15:14.

8/23:

Toshiaki Kawada & Genichiru Tenryu & Taiyo Kea beat Steve Williams & Mike Barton & The Cedman when Kea used his Hawaiian crusher on Cedman at 17:49.

8/20 Tokyo Korakuen Hall 2,100 sellout
Stan Hansen & Mike Barton & Johnny Smith upset Toshiaki Kawada & Genichiru Tenryu & Nobutaka Araya when Barton pinned Kawada for the first time at 17:49 with a high angle powerbomb.
Taiyo Kea & Jinsei Shinzaki defeated Steve Williams & The Cedman when Kea used his Hawaiian crusher on Cedman at 18:43.
Sabu pinned Shigeo Okumura at 7:49 following a guillotine drop.
Super Parka & Super Calo beat Damian 666 & Halloween when Calo pinned Halloween following a nadare shiki no Frankensteiner.
Masa Fuchi made Yuto Aijima submit to a gyakuebigatame (Boston crab) at 13:15.

All Japan announced the main matches for the 9/2 Tokyo Nippon Budokan show. The main event is the bizarre pairing of Toshiaki Kawada & Steve Williams facing the reformed tag team of Stan Hansen & Genichiru Tenryu. Hansen & Tenryu held the Sekai Tag Senshuken three times in '89, vacating the title before the Sekai Saikyo Tag League started, but then winning the league to regain the straps. The big news, however, is that there will be an AJ vs. NJ singles match with Masa Fuchi taking on Masahiro Chono. A very good match...if it was booked 10 years ago. I give Fuchi, who to get heat Chono called a 3rd class wrestler, about a .05% chance of winning this match, but since he's fighting Chono the show should sell out.
Maunakea Mossman has changed his name to Taiyo (solar/sun) Kea. He'll team with Jinsei Shinzaki & Mohammad Yone to face Mike Barton & Johnny Smith & The Cedman. The other "big" match is Sabu vs. Damian 666. I'm setting the over/under of blown spots for this match at 10.

8/17:

Atsushi Onita isn't going to retire (surprise, surprise) because he still has to dreams to make come true, returning to All Japan and bringing his style death match to America. He's made little progress on the later so far, but he's going to show up at the 8/26 All Japan show at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Although he's not wrestling on the show, one would expect him to make one of his typical grandstand challenges (should be to Kawada, since he's the one that declared "Jado refusal") that should eventually lead to a DUD in All Japan.

8/14:

A decision match for the Sankan Heavykyu Senshuken that was vacated when Kenta Kobashi left for NOAH will be the main event of the 28th anniversary show on 10/28 at Tokyo Nippon Budokan. The idea is to have a league or tournament involving All Japan wrestlers and whatever stars from other promotions are willing to compete. Atsushi Onita may be involved, and supposedly NOAH wrestlers are being invited, but everyone knows they won't accept. This league would start on 10/14 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall. Kawada's "dream" is to win the 3 titles here and then have a unification match with Kensuke Sasaki to create the ultimate title.

8/11: Choshu & Fuchi Shake On AJ/NJ Talent Exchange

Masa Fuchi shook hands with Riki Choshu in the ring at the 8/11 New Japan show, as it was announced that All Japan and New Japan would have interpromotional matches for the first time since April 1990..There was a huge shout of joy from the fans and even a Fuchi call. Not wanting to work with All Japan, Masahiro Chono and Hiroyoshi Tenzan broke up the party, with Choshu getting kicked. Interpromotional matches are expected to take place on the 8/20 All Japan show at Tokyo Korakuen Hall, 9/2 All Japan show at Tokyo Nippon Budokan, and 10/9 New Japan show at the Tokyo Dome. One would expect Chono and co to "try to get out of them," but eventually be "forced to" wrestle against All Japan as Kawada vs. Chono has big bucks written all over it.

8/9:

Genichiru Tenryu, who will battle Toshiaki Kawada for the top spot in the promotion, demanded that he be named Sub-president of the league. It was expected that Kawada would be named President, but Motoko Baba named herself President instead, so Kawada is still Sub-president and now to "heat up" the leagues only program, they may be doing an angle where the steaks may be increased. If.they go through with such an angle, one would expect the first singles match between Tenryu & Kawada to be a battle for control of the company, much like the first Chigusa vs. Lioness match in 10 years was. That's absolutely not how All Japan operated under Giant Baba or even Misawa, but they are desperate now so anything is possible.

7/31:

Everything has been decided for the next tour except the card for the major show on 9/2 at Tokyo Nippon Budokan. The additions of Genichiru Tenryu really beefs up the weak native side that previously had nothing but Toshiaki Kawada, as now at least they can have one major match between them at some point and several tag matches. Nobutaka Araya is an adequate addition, as he's okay but has gotten worse, if anything, over the past few years. He's on the same level as Shigeo Okumura, but Okumura has a lot more potential. Jinsei Shinzaki, when motivated, is much better than either, but the other two have "All Japan bodies," while Shinzaki is somewhat undersized when he's not standing next to The Great Sasuke & Gran Hamada. Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Mohammad Yone, and Ryuji Hijikata are back for a few shows.
On the gaijin side, Stan Hansen is working the whole tour, which will make for a lot of bad matches but he provides some of the only name value. Sabu is back for the first time since he quit the promotion in June of 1997 because he didn't think he should be an undercarder that put over all the real stars. I can see taking Tenryu back because there's a lot of money to be made there (especially if they can get some big names other than Kawada for him to face), but Sabu is just several times more useless now than he was then. I guess Paul Heyman should really be shaking in his boots when Rob Black's top guy is off working prelims against Yuto Aijima even though his checks aren't bouncing. Surprisingly, there's 4 Luchadores on the tour, Super Calo, Halloween, Damian 666, and Super Parka. It looks like these guys will be wrestling each other over and over again, but that sure beats Halloween & Damian vs. Gangstas West. Hopefully they can modify their style some to fit All Japan, as otherwise the fans are more likely to laugh their Lucha out of the building than except them. There's also a "ultimate fighter" called The Cedman that has trained with Anthony (free win) Macias and Tre Telligman who advocates.Kawada's stiff fighting style. Unfortunately, Scorpio isn't back, which makes even less since in light of Sabu being booked because Scorpio is one of the only guys that could have a good match with him.

The main matches on the tour are:
8/20: Kawada & Tenryu & Araya vs. Hansen & Barton & Smith, Mossman & Jinsei vs. Williams & Cedman
8/21: Kawada & Mossman vs. Barton & Smith, Tenryu & Jinsei vs. Williams & Cedman
8/23: Kawada & Tenryu & Mossman vs. Williams & Barton & Cedman, Hansen & Smith vs. Jinsei & Yone
8/25: Kawada & Mossman & Fujiwara vs. Hansen & Tenryu & Shinzaki
8/26: Hansen & Tenryu vs. Williams & Barton, Kawada vs. Smith, Shinzaki vs. Sabu
8/27: Kawada & Tenryu & Mossman vs. Williams & Barton & Cedman, Hansen & Shinzaki vs. Smith & Araya
8/29: Kawada & Tenryu & Shinzaki vs. Hansen & Mossman & Smith
8/31: Kawada & Hansen & Tenryu vs. Williams & Barton & Smith, Mossman vs. Yone, Shinzaki vs. Cedman, Fuchi & Fujiwara vs. Okumura & Aijima
9/1: Kawada & Mossman & Shinzaki vs. Williams & Barton & Cedman, Hansen & Tenryu vs. Smith & Araya

7/23:

7/23 Tokyo Nippon Budokan 16,300 sellout
Toshiaki Kawada & Genichiru Tenryu teamed for the first time in a decade, defeating Stan Hansen & Maunakea Mossman when Kawada powerbombed Mossman at 23:12.
Steve Williams pinned Jinsei Shinzaki following his backdrop at 21:11.
Yoshiaki Fujiwara made Johnny Smith submit to a wakigatame at 19:52.
Mike Barton & Wolf Hawkfield defeated George Hines & Scorpio when Barton used a Diamond cutter on Scorpio at 15:08.
Giant Kimala pinned Yuto Aijima in his body press at 10:19.
SHIIBA pinned SHINOBI in a cross arm shiki German suplex hold at 8:48. Mostly everyone hated this match because Lucha Libre style isn't remotely believable, and they made that known.
Masa Fuchi pinned Shigeo Okumura at 9:57 following his backdrop.

7/21:

7/21 Okayama Kurashiki Sanyo Haitsu Taiiku Muro 1,200
Toshiaki Kawada & Jinsei Shinzaki beat Steve Williams & Johnny Smith when Shinzaki pinned Smith with an enzuigiri at 25:02.
Mike Barton & Wolf Hawkfield defeated Maunakea Mossman & George Hines when Barton gave Hines a Diamond cutter at 16:25.
Scorpio pinned SHINOBI at 10:08 with his 420 drop zone.

If Tenryu participates in all the shows on the next tour (he is), at least one of the championships will be decided on the 9/2 Tokyo Nippon Budokan show.

7/20:

7/20 Fukuoka Hakata Starlane 3,300 sellout
Toshiaki Kawada & Masa Fuchi beat Yoshiaki Fujiwara & Johnny Smith when Fujiwara pinned Smith at 27:49.
Steve Williams & Giant Kimala defeated Mike Barton & Wolf Hawkfield when Williams used his satsujin backdrop on Wolf at 16:03. Williams called Misawa out once again, saying let's do it one time before we retire, but Misawa just walked away. I think Williams said he'd retire if he lost to Misawa, but it doesn't matter since Misawa will never fight him.
In Mitsuharu Misawa's last match in All Japan after 19 glorious years", he teamed with Yoshinari Ogawa to beat Akira Taue & Masao Inoue when Ogawa used his backdrop hold on Inoue at 18:43. If you told people three years ago that in August 2000 All Japan would be running a full schedule without Baba, Tsuruta, or Misawa wrestling on any of the shows, I wonder if anyone would have believed you?
No Fear beat Jun Akiyama & Jun Izumida when Omori used his ax bomber on Izumida at 15:03.
Takeshi Morishima & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Kentaro Shiga & Naomichi Marufuji when Morishima used a nodowa shiki no facecrusher on Marufuji at 14:31.
Maunakea Mossman & Jinsei Shinzaki & Yuto Aijima beat George Hines & Scorpio & Shigeo Okumura when Mossman used his Hawaiian crusher on Okumura at 19:49.

7/19:

7/19 Yamaguchi Kaikyo Messe Shimozeki 800
Toshiaki Kawada & Jinsei Shinzaki beat Mike Barton & Wolf Hawkfield when Kawada used his enzuigiri on Wolf at 22:27.
Maunakea Mossman & Giant Kimala defeated Steve Williams & Scorpio when Mossman used his Hawaiian crusher on Scorpio at 22:58.
George Hines (back for the rest of the tour) & Mohammad Yone beat Johnny Smith & Ryuji Hijikata when Hines used his Hinesdriver on Hijikata at 17:18.
Shigeo Okumura, who has now joined All Japan, pinned SHINOBI in a German suplex hold at 9:07.
Masa Fuchi beat Yuto Aijima in 16:49.

7/17:

7/17 Toyama Sangyo Tenjikan Techno Hall 2,400 sellout
Steve Williams & Johnny Smith & Wolf Hawkfield beat Toshiaki Kawada & Maunakea Mossman & Jinsei Shinzaki when Williams pinned Shinzaki at 28:26 following his satsujin (murder) backdrop.
Mike Barton & Giant Kimala defeated Shigeo O
Akira Taue & Masao Inoue & Kentaro Shiga defeated Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa & Naomichi Marufuji when Shiga made Marufuji submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 20:46.
No Fear beat when Jun Akiyama & Yoshinobu Kanemaru when Takayama used a running knee lift on Kanemaru at 14:49.
Scorpio pinned SHINOBI at 8:20 with a 420 drop zone, which is supposed to be a one revolution Canadian backbreaker drop.
Masa Fuchi pinned Yuto Aijima with a backdrop at 12:46.

7/15:

7/15 Ishikawa Nanao Sogo Shimin Taiikukan 2,300
The intrigue of All Japan and NOAH on the same card lasted all of one day as this show didn't even sell out.
Toshiaki Kawada & Maunakea Mossman beat Mike Barton & Johnny Smith when Kawada pinned Smith at 21:32 following his enzuigiri.
Jun Akiyama & Jun Izumida & Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa & Naomichi Marufuji when Kanemaru used his Kanemaru clutch on Marufuji at 20:59.
No Fear beat Akira Taue & Masao Inoue when Omori used his ax bomber on Inoue at 16:24.
Steve Williams & Shigeo Okumura defeated Jinsei Shinzaki & Mohammed Yone when Williams used his backdrop hold on Yone at 20:52.
Scorpio pinned Ryuji Hijikata in his moonsault press at 11:20.

7/13: Kawada Claims Misawa & Co. Aren't Necessary

7/13 Aichi Item Ehime 2,850 sellout
This was the first of the sold shows where NOAH sent matches so All Japan to appease the local promoter who paid for the show expecting a full crew. Since there's so much bad blood between the two promotions, this was a hot ticket just to see what would happen. There was so much demand that they decided to pack the building to (or beyond) the max by putting an extra 500 tickets on sale that day, all of which sold quickly.
Toshiaki Kawada & Maunakea Mossman & Jinsei Shinzaki beat Steve Williams & Johnny Smith & Scorpio when Kawada pinned Scorpio at 23:09 following his knee drop. Kawada said that Misawa's crew wasn't needed. He criticized them for only doing enough to get by, and claimed the previous shows on this series that didn't have any NOAH matches were better. Given the boring lineups that you knew Misawa would present, this might be true for these few shows, but overall the losses are immeasurable. Kawada said the NOAH matches made the show too long, so the fans were tired by the main event. The first All Japan show without all the guys that left was 5 matches totaling 73 minutes from bell to bell, while this show was 6 matches totaling 102 minutes. The longer show should be better, especially when it comes to getting your money's worth, but half of that extra time on this show was devoted to the old farts that aren't funny match.
Giant Kimala & Wolf Hawkfield defeated Mike Barton & Shigeo Okumura when Wolf pinned Okumura at 15:15 with his turbo drop II.
Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa & Masao Inoue beat Takao Omori & Yoshihiro Takayama & Takeshi Morishima when Inoue made Morishima submit to his Argentine backbreaker at 18:39.
Akira Taue & Kentaro Shiga defeated Jun Akiyama & Yoshinobu Kanemaru when Shiga made Kanemaru submit to an udehishigigyakujujigatame at 15:14.
Haruka Eigen & Jun Izumida & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi beat Rusher Kimura & Mitsuo Momoto & Makoto Hashi when Izumida pinned Hashi at 16:08.
Masa Fuchi & Ryuji Hijikata defeated Yuto Aijima & SHINOBI when Fuchi made SHINOBU submit to a gyakuebigatame at 13:52.

Onita met Kawada after his death match and told him he intended to wrestle in All Japan. He's "causing problems" as usual because Motoko Baba wants him, Kawada doesn't, and now he's looking for the fans to let it be known that they want to see him in All Japan. I guess we should all call or email All Japan and tell them yes, in addition to the crappy undercards we've been getting for the last few years, now we want main events below ** instead of above ****.

7/12:

7/12 Kochi-ken Min Taiikukan 1,300
Toshiaki Kawada & Maunakea Mossman beat Mike Barton & Wolf Hawkfield when Mossman used his Hawaiian crusher on Wolf at 17:31.
Steve Williams & Masa Fuchi defeated Giant Kimala & Shigeo Okumura when Williams used his Dr. bomb on Okumura at 16:28.
Jinsei Shinzaki made Mohammad Yone submit to his gokurakugatame at 16:28.
Johnny Smith used his British fall on SHINOBI at 14:09.
Scorpio pinned Ryuji Hijikata in his moonsault press at 11:11.

7/11:

7/11 Osaka Furitsu Taiikukaikan 2,600
Toshiaki Kawada & Maunakea Mossman beat Jinsei Shinzaki & Yuki Ishikawa when Kawada used a powerbomb then a knee drop on Shinzaki at 25:15.
Masa Fuchi went to a 30 minute draw with Yoshiaki Fujiwara.
Steve Williams pinned Mohammad Yone in a backdrop hold at 4:56.
Shigeo Okumura made Ryuji Hijikata submit to a manjigatame at 9:40.

Toshiaki Kawada finally commented on the possibility of Atsushi Onita wrestling in All Japan rings, basically saying he wouldn't let Onita in because he won't raise his level of work to meet current All Japan standards. The problem is if this isn't an angle, which it probably both is and isn't, it's still Motoko Baba's decision whether to use Onita or not. If it is an angle then we'll eventually get Kawada against a guy he doesn't want to wrestle because he refuses to do the style Kawada is pushing, which is good in the sense that it'll mean Kawada will have to kick Onita's ass "whether Onita likes it or not."
