Oriental (captain) & Oscar Sevilla & Pegasso
vs.
Psicosis (captain) & Chessman & Picudo

1) Pegasso y Psicosis started out with a nice series of counters and reversals, but unfortunately they were cut short by a jump cut to Picudo y Oriental. Luckily, Pegasso and Psicosis quickly returned for another solid segment that was only marred by a blown spot where Psicosis had him tied to the tree of woe. Psicosis was supposed to miss spearing him but Psicosis missed his cue instead, and by the time he went through the ropes Pegasso had already been nearly standing on the apron. After a couple of good rana variations by Sevilla on Chessman (who looks like a bloated version of the Wolfpack era Sting, i.e. horrible), los rudos quickly ended it with a gutwrench into a Michinoku driver II by Psicosis while Pegasso and Sevilla were held at bay.

2) This started out with a triple basement dropkick by los rudos on Oriental, which was followed by a 3 on 1 vs. Oscar. He also took a stereo basement dropkick by Psicosis and Chessman with 2 chairs in his face while being tied to the tree of woe. After continuing the heavy metal assault on the fallen matador they were dq’ed by the face ref who tossed them off Oscar.

3) Early highlights of this verse were Pegasso coming off the middle outside turnbuckle to the floor with a rana on Chessman followed by Oriental springing off the 2nd rope as well with a Dragonrana on Picudo. The top spot however was Pegasso doing a 450 to the floor on a standing Psicosis. Back in the ring he again caught Psicosis, this time with a forward roll for the much deserved win. At the same time Sevilla pinned Chessman with a rana rollup for good measure. Overall, a pretty good match that was great anytime Pegasso was involved. 18 minutes shown (including between falls replays).

El Zorro (captain) & Mr. Aguila & Pegasso
vs.
Super Crazy (captain) & Chessman & Abismo Negro
Taped 8/31/02 in Salamanca, GTO

1) In foreshadowing the post match melee, Crazy shook hands with Zorro and the face ref following the opening whistle. Zorro got the early advantage by hiptossing Crazy out of the ring twice. However, Crazy quickly came back with some beautiful matwork that led to a crucifix for a two count. After this they shook hands twice more (the second time at Crazy’s insistence) and then tagged out to Pegasso and Abismo respectively. Pegasso turned a tilt-a-whirl attempt into an arm drag to the floor, which led to Chessman and the former Essa Rios entering the ring. But before they even touched, Aguila had Pegasso replace him. Pegasso continued to seriously impress except a spot where slipped off the top rope in attempting a dive to the floor. Part of it was him stepping on Aguila’s hand (who was ducking beneath but holding the top rope to keep his balance), but in a nice recovery he caught himself from a corkscrew in mid-air and was able to land on his feet instead of going head first into the apron. Not to be outdone, his fellow faces and Crazy showed their excellent acrobatic abilities as well culminating with a split-legged moonsault by Aguila on Crazy to end an excellent fall.

2) Crazy and Pegasso kept the good times rolling with dueling Asai moonsaults - Crazy missed his but caught Pegasso’s. After a slingshot rana to the floor by Aguila on Chessman, Abismo and Zorro exchanged kendo shots that surprisingly got neither one DQ’d. However, in a funny spot Zorro ducked the stick and Abismo caught the heel ref with it, so he tried to DQ Zorro for this. The face ref threatened to drop him with fists of fury though, so he relented and backed down from the call. During a great sequence of domination over Aguila and Zorro by Abismo and Chessman, the heels showed some flash of their own with moonsaults and dives galore. It was also at this point that they began having problems with Crazy (who just stood on the apron throughout all this) as they had to somewhat shove him into the ring to face Pegasso. But Crazy got the edge on him this time with a slingshot to the floor. After a botched 450 by Aguila (he landed on his feet and then just fell on Abismo) that got a two count, he recovered to hit a sweet shooting star press on Chessman for the checkmate. Los techs were given the match and then Chessman and Abismo turned on Crazy and dropped him. Crazy then meandered to the back but in facing the ring he got a rabbit punch via a ladder by Psicosis. Complete and awesome match with everyone, especially Pegasso, shining bright. 16:13 (including between falls replays)

Tarzan Boy (captain) & Rico Suave & Bulldog
vs.
Rayo De Jalisco Jr. (captain) & Gran Markus Jr. & Poder Mexica

1) Not shown but was won by the good guys.

2) Poor Tarzan Boy. Having to be buried in this atrocious match and then tapping to la tapatia. At least Rayo was the one who forced the give up. Thank God only 2:50 was shown and that there wasn’t a tercera caida.

Torneo Leyenda de Plata (1st Stage):
Group A: Atlantis, Safari, Blue Panther, Virus, Satanico, Averno, Mephisto & Felino
vs.
Group B: Tony Rivera, Olimpico, Violencia, Fuerza Guerrera, Volador Jr., Black Tiger, Negro Casas & Hombre Sin Nombre

This was a single elimination match with the winners moving on to the following week’s show in the 2nd stage/semi-finals. Really, this was just a collection of short sequences leading to someone getting pinned. Fuerza was out first, tapping to Safari and Casas was eliminated last via la magistal by Felino. Not a bad match by any means, but it had no flow to it because of the rules and the amount of wrestlers so it was a forgettable one.
