A Una Solo Caida:
Pierroth Jr. vs. Mascara Ano Dos Mil

Veneno’s now doing the gimmick of singing the Puerto Rican national anthem but getting cut off one bar in. This was a really surprising match though. No, it wasn’t even remotely close to decent (certainly not better). However, it actually had strong heat throughout, a first for this feud. A second first for this feud was that Pierroth didn’t get gassed. Dos Mil did however, less than two minutes in. Usual brawling except this time they incorporated Pierroth’s studded belt (insert your own joke here). And for the hat trick, the third first for these guys was MADM getting DQ’d for using the dreaded sheet metal on Pierroth. On a long overdue side note, El Boricua Femenino is nearly a dead ringer for J.Lo. But unlike Jenny her ass doesn’t encompass an entire block.

Campeonato Mundial De Parejas EMLL
Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero (Los Campeones)
vs.
Shocker & Vampiro (Los Retadores)

1) Brief but good sequence of matwork by Vamp y Rey to start it off. Then they went straight towards the finish beginning with a nice near fall. After a gutwrench suplex off the top by Vamp on Rey, Shocker landed a splash off the top for a pin that Ultimo broke up. Vamp then took 3 the hardway off a combo waistlock off the mat into a German suplex by Ultimo with Rey clotheslining Vamp on the way down. Rey then tried the same on Shocker, but as Ultimo prematurely celebrated on the turnbuckles Shocker rolled forward into a pin on Rey. Shocker then caught the shocked Guerrero with a rana roll-up for a three that should’ve been two. The refs waived off the fall and went to yell at Vamp (who missed his cue) so Rey could run in and reverse the pin and Ultimo could claim the first fall for the defending champs.

2) Very quick fall. After avoiding the patented flip pancake by Los Guerreros, Shocker hit a sick flip dive to the floor on Guerrero which resulted in the Last Warrior getting counted out. Meanwhile the in-ring action saw Vamp take out Rey with a spin wheel kick off the top followed by 2 continuous German suplexes and a Death Valley bomb to force la tercera caida.

3) Dives a go-go started off the final fall. A pescado by Shocker on Rey was answered with a flip dive by Ultimo on 1000% Guapo. Vamp then culminated it with a plancha on Ultimo. King Buccaneer and Vampiro were the first two back in the ring, and they exchanged nice near falls. First Rey turned Vamp’s rana attempt into a powerbomb then Vamp revenged that with a uranage for a two. Rey then survived a camel clutch long enough for Ultimo to get back in the ring. Vamp caught him charging, but Ultimo turned this uranage into a Fujiwara armbar. Rey then grabbed Vamp’s free left arm and barred it for the tap. Shocker was the next to give up. After their also patented double press slam into a double chokeslam, Los Guerreros locked in a dual tequila sunrise to retain their titles. Very good match with these guys shining as always.

Ricky Marvin & Tony Rivera & Volador Jr. (C)
vs.
Hooligan & Arkangel de la Muerte (C) & Nitro
Taped Arena Coliseo, D.F.

1) Los technicos were very impressive here, and throughout the rest of the match. Nice, elongated sequences of technical wrestling and counters started the match off, and then some sweet highspots ended this fall in favor of the good guys. Marvin started it off with a running springboard corkscrew plancha on Nitro. Back in the ring, Arkangel whipped Rivera into the opposite corner where Volador was against the turnbuckles. In an awesome spot, he monkey flipped Volador, who (in one motion) rolled thru it and up and over Hooligan for a sunset flip and pin. Rivera then backdropped and caught Muerte with a Dragonrana to capture the first fall.

2) Los tecs were on like neckbone here as well, with all kinds of rana variations. But in his exuberance Rivera was caught by Angel, who gave him a running fallout powerbomb that led to him getting pinned by Nitro following some elbow drops and a senton by Angel. Marvin then fell to a lionsault by Hooligan after Muerte slammed him off the top.

3) La ultima caida was the shortest of the three. Good action, however, as Rivera and Volador hit stereo missle dropkicks followed by stereo suicidas on Hooligan and Nitro that allowed Marvin to rolled up Muerte in la magistral for the win. Fun and exciting match that makes you wonder why these guys are usually never on TV.

Torneo de Tercias "Trofeo Arena Mexico" Semifinal:
Villanos III, IV & V
vs.
Black Tiger & Nosawa & Masada
Taped Arena Mexico, D.F.

Only about two minutes aired, and it wasn’t good. Some communication problems were the main downfall of what aired, which ended with Tiger sunset flipped Villano Tercero for the win.

Torneo de Tercias "Trofeo Arena Mexico" Final:
Rayo de Jalisco Jr./Hijo de Lizmark/Black Warrior
vs.
Black Tiger & Nosawa & Masada

This was also the Slimfast version of the match, and it wasn’t good either. Lots of brawling, most of it looking very weak. The natives won a clean sweep with pins on Tiger then Masada.

The show opened with a interview by Mascara Magica giving his condolences on the death of Mascara Maligna. A brief clip of Mascara Maligna (sans mask) pounding Latin Lover was then shown, followed by a tribute graphic. Luis Albertco Medina Delgadillo 1966-2002. Descanse en Paz.

Campeonato Nacional Semicompleto:
Hijo del Perro Aguayo (Campeon) vs. El Dandy (Retador)

1) Mr. Aguila was Perro’s second and Hector Garza accompanied El Dandy. More accurately, he was unofficially Dandy’s tag partner considering how he interfered freely. The former Essa Rios y Papi Chulo played the role of Trinity here, not really helping at all but complaining enough to distract the ref. This fall itself contained some solid, but unspectacular, work by both and was won by Perro with the running footstomp.

2) Perro jobbed very quickly after a chairshot to the back by Garza.

3) Another fall that went under a minute. Garza did another run-in and mistakenly parted Dandy’s uprights. When heel ref Tirantes turned around, Garza easily convinced him that Perro roll shamboed Dandy and the trusting soul awarded the fallen challenger the belt via DQ. Considering how over Perro is, they are eventually going to kill their top face if he’s constantly made to look like an incompetent idiot like this.

A Una Solo Caida:
Octagoncito vs. Mini Abismo Negro
Taped Tokyo Korakuen Hall

Crowd was actually behind MAN to begin the match, much to the chagrin of Octagoncito. However, he was able to turn them somewhat after a corkscrew moonsault off the top to the floor and later on an Orihara as well. Abismo also got a nice pop for his tope con hilo in between those two spots. The work here was very good, with a lot of rana variations from Octagon including a running springboard one off the top. The pacing was a little slower than they usually go at, but Abismo was also solid as always with the exception of a couple of minor sloppy spots. Octagoncito won with an octopus stretch into a cradle.

Latin Lover (C) & La Parka & Mascara Sagrada
vs.
Leatherface (C) & Hector Garza & Bull Terry
Taped Reynosa, Tamaulipas

1) We came in late here to see some typical weak brawling and two wrestling moves that don’t classify under the “punch and stomp” category. Garza caught a charging Lover (no pun intended) with a spinebuster and then turned him over into a Boston crab for the tap.

2) Segunda caida started off with Leatherface threatening the announcers, even the rudo ones. They laughed it off though since this isn’t W*ING’s and no one cares about that gimmick anymore. After Garza slipped off the apron while attempting a springboard, the match briefly fell apart as he and Lover had a serious amount of communication breakdown. Parka came in though and the match picked up as he actually was able to have a good sequence with Leatherface, including a couple of legdrops off the top. Parka and Sagrada double slammed Terry then a charging Leatherface missed them and landed on his partner and wound up pinning him as Parka y Segrada held him down.

3) The third fall got off to a good start with a tope con hilo by Sagrada onto Terry, who Parka had planted in a chair on the floor. Then it fell apart. Lover and Leather took forever to set-up a spot where Lover eventually superkicked Leatherface onto a pile of tacks. Parka and Latin then covered him, but the heel ref refused to go past 2. Then Perro Jr. came out and tripped up Garza who was then locked in la magistral by Lover for a fast 3 by the nice ref. The match sorta ended there, as Perro and Lover brawled with Garza into the crowd and Leatherface got up and took out the chainsaw. Los tecs (minus Sagrada) then faced off with Leatherface, each holding a chair. Lover knocked the sparking chainsaw out of his hand and Leather just left as Lover reved it up as the show ended. Match was good in fleeting spots, but I can’t help but wonder how good Garza would’ve been had he not broke his neck 4 or 5 years ago.
