Rayo De Jalisco Jr. (C) & Blue Demon Jr. & Tinieblas Jr.
vs.
Cien Caras (C) & Tarzan Boy & Ultimo Guerrero

1) Pretty good fall as Los Guerreros logged most of it. Quality dropped off a bit when Demon got involved, as he couldn’t keep up with their pace. What he could do however was catch Tarzan in a forward roll-up for a pin while Tinieblas caught Ultimo in a combo armbar/front face lock to capture the first verse.

2) Like the first fall, this was carried by Tarzan y Ultimo. This wasn’t as though as Caras got more involved here and in the process got in the way of Los Guerreros. A couple of nice rana variations by Demon made up for his opening fall problems, but in the end he succumbed to a single leg crab by Ultimo. But before that happened Tinieblas quit to a double boston crab employed by Tarzan y Ultimo (each having one leg hooked).

3) Everyone but Cien flew here, so they ended on a fairly strong note. Rayo hit a crossbody on Caras for a two that was made not 3 by Caras pressing Rayo onto the ref to break the count. He then connected with a field goal on Rayo to get the tainted victory as Tinieblas just stood there and complained in disbelief. 16:20

Dr. Wagner Jr. (C) & Takemura & Rey Bucanero
vs.
Atlantis (C) & Negro Casas & Olimpico
Taped Arena Mexico, D.F.

1) Rey came out minus the usual make-up, sunglasses, and leather jacket, instead substituting a pirate outfit and dog collar with his name on it. Quickly over as the heels dominated. They took 3 on 1 turns on los tecs, culminating with a triple press slam on the opposing captain to put his team down 1-0. Wagner’s worked with Los Guerreros so often lately that he’s developed great chemistry with all of them.

2) Strong comeback by the faces, as they were on the offensive for most of this stanza. Some communication problems led to choppy action towards the end, however. But it was still an end that saw Dr. tap to Atlantis’ spinning backbreaker as Olimpico wrapped up the King Buccaneer in a small package for the quicker even upper.

3) Main focus here was on Casas and Takemura. Unfortunately, their problems communicating continued and this was not a pretty finish to a slightly above average match up to this point. Fortunately, Masada ended the potential mess by doing a run in and spraying Casas with some red mist for the rudo DQ. 14:27

Villano III & IV & Gigante Silva
vs.
Gran Markus Jr.& Blue Panther & Fuerza Guerrera & El Signo

Like his other matches, this was a una caida for the giant. As you’d expect, this wasn’t good but as you may also expect, Fuerza saved it. He wasn’t involved much in the ring (smart move on his part), but his antics on the apron were hilariously classic. Silva obviously isn’t good, but to his credit he genuinely makes an effort to be as capable as he can and seems to really enjoy himself and the response he gets from the fans. And it’s not his fault he looks like the result of Van Hammer and Bill Walton having a child together. He even did a sunset flip on Markus for a two count halfway thru. Anyway, the finish came when V3 pinned Signo with a rana and Silva pinned Panther after a splash off the middle turnbuckle. 6:26

EMLL vs. New Japan:
Shocker (C) & Mr. Niebla & Hijo De Lizmark
vs.
Black Tiger (C) & Wataru Inoue & Shibata

1) Short fall dominated by the NJ guys, with the highlight being a nice bicycle kick by Inoue on the guapo one… er, I meant one thousand percent. This was preceded by Inoue pinning Niebla with a German suplex and followed by Inoue capping off his one man, ninety second, show with a roll up on Lizmark to put himself and the others up by one.

2) Helafast evener for la raza as this fall was only 2/3 the length of the first fall sprint. Niebla tied up Inoue with his special and Shocker borrowed Atlantis’ backbreaker to force the rubber match.

3) Very good tercera caida that allowed everyone the time to shine. Tiger low blowed Lizmark while he was on the turnbuckles and then powerbombed him for a suprising non-three. Moments later, Lizmark landed head first on Tiger’s stomach and the heel ref tried but failed to DQ him as the face ref stopped him. The Japanese did wind up getting the win after all though with a simultaneous triple elimination. Shocker tapped to Shibata at the same time Inoue made Niebla give up while Tiger pinned Lizmark with a northern lights suplex. 14:49

Mini Abismo Negro & Mascarita Maligna
vs.
Octagoncito & Mascarita Sagrada

1) These guys have faced each other a zillion times, but they still manage to have fresh and (usually) exciting matches. Brief first fall this time as Abismo tapped Octagoncito to an eastern stretch, while Sagrada did the same to Maligna’s camel clutch.

2) Los rudos started out with chair shots aplenty, but when Abismo mistakenly hit Maligna with one the seat popped out. I know somewhere Matsunaga is preparing a steak and smiling at that one. Crazy spot of the match saw Octagoncito hit an Orihara moonsault on Abismo but catch more of the crowd than MAN. He barely grazed Abismo and landed on a woman in the first row and sold it like he was dead. It was a pretty impressive dive though as he must’ve cleared 7 feet of floor between the railing and ring. Back in the ring, the good Mascarita forward rolled the bad Mascarita to force a third fall.

3) Octagoncito recovered enough to have a solid sequence with MAN to start this chapter. Sagrada then returned the earlier favor with a chairshot on MAN that sent him outside. But in his overexcitement, Sagrada threw the chair to the floor which allowed Abismo to clobber him with it during a suicide dive. Sagrada sold this like a gunshot, and was soon carried to the back. Not wanting to be left out Maligna received a chair shot from Octagoncitio that ended his role in the match. This left MAN and Crazy 8’s. Octagoncito still have the chair so MAN dropkicked it Van Daminator style and after an over the top flip dive to the floor everyone was outside and finished so the match ended in a double countout. Not one of their stronger efforts, but still pretty good. 13:24

Campeonato Nacional Semicompleto:
Electroshock (Campeon) w/Mini Abismo Negro
vs.
Perro Aguayo Jr. (Retador) w/Mascarita Segrada

1) Perro was unbelievably over here, and nearly got a quick countout win as he ran off the apron and nailed Electro with a tornado DDT on the floor. Electro sold it for an 18 count, but as soon as he got in the ring he went on offense like it never happened. This didn’t last long however, as Perro landed off the top rope with a double footstomp to come within one fall of the title.

2) Each of the first two falls went under 3 minutes apiece, but Abismo made the most of the 180 seconds they had here. Several cheapshots by him but none worse than him pulling Tirantes (face ref) out of the ring during a Perro small package that was on a two count and heading for 3. As Tirantes regained himself on the floor, a knee to the groin allowed Electro to continue his title reign for at least one more fall.

3) More interference by MAN, including a few chairshots on Perro and one on Mascarita. When Tirantes had enough of this, MAN threw the chair at him which caused Tirantes to chase him to the locker rooms. But as he returned to the ring, big Abismo nailed him with a chair and heel ref Salazar charged the ring as los dos Abismo’s celebrated over Tirantes. Perro mounted a brief hope spot with a Thesz press off the top to the floor, and Electro followed by a couple of s..l…o….w 2 counts. Finally, Salazar also had enough and just crotched Perro on the top rope. This enabled Electro to put his feet on the middle ropes and cover Perro for the speedy 3. The fans were pretty pissed about this and littered the ring and side area with garbage to the point that the photographers at ringside headed for safe ground. 13:46
