Mari & Fabi Apache vs. Reggie & Jessie Bennett. Reggie seemed to work pretty well with these two. She was just beginning to lose weight for her shoot match with Elina here, so it was surprising that Fabi was able to give her a nice fisherman suplex. Reggie pinned Fabi with an RKO, which is a reverse version of Mero's TKO. This was basically a battle of the lousy foreign teams, but the win for the USA team should have meant a little more now that the Mexican team was in contention (though it's doubtful that it did because most people didn't see them win three matches). 13:57 (1:55 shown). |
11/3/98 Yachiyo Cho Sogo Taiikukan (1,050 sellout) | |
Reggie & Jessie Bennett vs. Tamada & Yagi. Rie dislocated her shoulder on 10/29, but she didn't even miss one show. This is her hometown, and you could tell she is very popular here by the fact that she practically got 1 streamer per person in the building. Not surprisingly, they let Tamada go over, as she pinned Jessie after the double missile kick. 16:03 (1:06 shown). |

Rie Tamada & Hiromi Yagi vs. Gami & Lady Metal. They showed a lot more of this than most, but it was also a longer match and it still wound up not coming off that well. Yagi pinned Gami with a kaiten ebigatame (victory roll). 22:23 (3:37 shown). Tiger Dream & Hamada vs. Yoshida & Akino. This looked like a really good match, with Yoshida & Akino being particularly impressive. Akino did some pretty good Lucha with Ayako. She also did a nice small package for Hamada's suplex, and a great springboard huracanrana. Yoshida did her air raid crash then went into a sankakujime, two of her top finishers in a row, but Tiger still made it to the ropes. That would have been a strong finish, especially in comparison to the weak finish they really did. The actual finish saw Tiger counter a double whip into the ropes by hitting only Akino with her rolling savate. Of course, I don't know how you could hit more than one person at a time with a rolling savate, but this was the problem. Yoshida just stood there while this happened then realized she wasn't in position for Candy to Tiger suplex her for the win, so she turned around kind of looking at Akino and kind of selling the rolling savate that she didn't get hit with. In any case, Dream Tiger suplexed her for the win. 16:39 (5:08 shown). |
