Battle Station JWP taped 11/15/98 Tokyo Korakuen Hall (1,900 sellout/1,500) Tomiko Sai vs. Kayoko Haruyama |

This was a definite improvement over what I've seen from these two in the past. Haruyama put some weight onto her already out of shape looking body, but her wrestling was better so I'm not going to complain. Sai's wrestling was also better. For the most part, this was a solid but unspectacular match. Both women showed much better offense than they have in the past, so I wouldn't really call this rookie style even though they are rookies. They tried hard, and the fans gave Sai a good hand when she would bridge out of pins. Haruyama picked up the victory with a spinebomb. Unfortunately, these two haven't really progressed since this match. Miko: Haruyama is showing a little more now than she did earlier, including a nice run up the ropes arm drag where she actually managed to keep the momentum going so it looked like the ropespring helped the move. Haruyama's spinebomb finisher looked pretty decent. I still dislike her double sit-down slam though. Basically both Haruyama and her opponent sit down from a standing position, and this is supposed to hurt her opponent yet not hurt her. Everyone else does the same thing when they do a Liger bomb to their opponent, but they aren't hurt performing the move just, so it's unclear why taking the same bump would hurt Haruyama's opponent much.
