SUPER GRADE TAG TEAM LEAGUE VIII Commercial Tape 11/18/98-12/6/98 11/18/98 Kyoto Furitsu Taiikukan (7,000) Atsushi Onita's New Japan Debut |
|
Atsushi Onita made his New Japan debut in a heated angle. Onita came out and started screaming on the mic, calling out retired superstar and current NJ booker Riki Choshu. Shiro Koshinaka tried to attack Onita, but he was restrained. Choshu finally came out, and when Onita handed him a written challenge, Choshu ripped it up and attacked him. This lead to much speculation that Choshu would come out of retirement since he's feeling better physically now that it's been a while since he was torturing us with his poor matches. However, for the moment, the angle set up an awful match between Choshu's protégé Kensuke Sasaki, who was in the ring yelling for Onita to come back and fight him right then, and Onita on the 1/4/99 Tokyo Dome show. Unfortunately, Onita has been relentless in bugging Choshu to come out of retirement so Riki could have an excuse for being a liar. The idea is that the Japanese people actually get mad when people have this grand retirement tour and then a year or two later they are back in the ring, but if Choshu has a good excuse to justify his return then most fans probably wouldn't be unhappy with him. |
