TO 1999 Bout Part 1: Yoshiko Tamura vs. Chaparrita ASARI |
|
A decent match that could have gone either way. It started off fast with ASARI doing her londart kicks, but then died out with a series of restmissions. Tamura at least worked ASARI's knee during this portion, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it. The match didn't pick up again until just before the 10-minute mark. Tamura did a plancha, but when they returned to the ring, her key roll into the hizajujigatame was blown. ASARI came back with a super quebrada that supposedly hit, but just about all the impact was ASARI's knee hitting the mat outside the ring. Tamura avoided a diving body attack and la magistralled ASARI for a near fall, but ASARI came back with a great corbata (twisting Frankensteiner). ASARI did nadare shiki no Frankensteiner, but Tamura turned it into a pin of her own for a near fall then did her doublewrist armsault for a near fall. ASARI got a near fall with a Northern Lights suplex then pinned Tamura with her sky twister pres. The near falls at the end were good because the these are on the same low level, so the match could have ended at any time. It would have been a good match if they could have built to the hot final four minutes, but you could say that about any number of matches these two are in. It all comes down to these two having the ability, but not really knowing how to use it. Michael: The match was good, but I was hoping for it to be a little better. I think it was smart for them to keep it around 14 minutes but they did a weak job of building to the finish, which pretty much came out of nowhere (but in a not great way as opposed to a good way). The finish was good though in the sense that Chaparrita actually won it only having to use the STP once instead of using 3 or 4 and still losing the match.
