Sumie Sakai (Jd') vs. Kayoko Haruyama | |
It wasn't a good idea for Jd' to send Sakai to wrestle this opposition. Sakai once again looked good here, but she's not at the level where she can carry an inexperienced wrestler who has yet to approach decent. To make things worse, Haruyama is in a different league so it's not like Jd' having her wrestler a comparable stiff from their league, say Fujiwara, who she is around "all the time" since they are training in the same dojo and wrestling on all the same Jd' shows. Some of what was gained through Sakai's good matches against Emi, Bloody, and Yagi was lost here because this match gave us a reality check as to just how good she is right now. Not that anyone expects a good match from Haruyama, but this didn't exactly make Sakai look like the great prospect she is. Sakai got to win quickly with a backdrop hold, so you could look at this in more than one way. On one hand, it's good to get quick wins over other leagues wrestlers because it makes you and your league look good. On the other hand, if you aren't a big star, you usually have to be in with a young scrub to get one of these wins, and you don't really want people to associate or link your good young wrestlers with a lot of potential with someone elses bad young wrestlers with questionable potential. 9:33 (2:24 aired) |
