Kanako Motoya vs. Tomoko Miyaguchi | |
These two worked to their ability, so it was quite good even though neither are strong or improving in the mental aspects. The match had more submissions then you would expect, as Kanako once again showed her "shooter" skills. The problem with the match was that it just kind of ended. It looked like they might have went home early because Miyaguchi could have hurt her neck when Motoya countered her suplex by planting her with a nasty DDT. However, it didn't look like Miyaguchi gave any signal to go home early and she seemed alright after the match. Still, it made no sense that Miyaguchi would get up and pin Motoya with her suichoku rakka shiki no brainbuster right after Motoya came back with an incredible DDT. Miko: Good match. Motoya is the one being surly now, and she played it better than I expected. I liked the spot where Kanako went for the cover, but Miyaguchi countered with a V-1 arm lock. Kanako sold it and got the rope break, then slapped Tomoko, which was a nice bitchy touch. Motoya worked her leg locks pretty well. They should give her a win with them sometime. The weak point was the selling. At one point, Miyaguchi screamed and sold an Achilles' tendon hold so much you thought she would have to get to the ropes or give up, but would up doing neither. I would have liked the ending better if Kanako had not planted Tomoko with a really nasty looking DDT because I would have believed Miyaguchi's flash comeback into the brainbuster a little more. Michael: Nobody uses a DDT as a finisher, and it's not the first time I've seen somebody get up right after one. I think the finish was just supposed to be a "surprise" one so that Kanako wouldn't lose much by jobbing here. As far as the DDT goes, I know it wasn't your point, but if you watch enough crappy wrestling, you'll find plenty of examples to "justify" everything bad, dumb, and/or wrong about wrestling. No one wins with a piledriver anymore, but it still pisses me off when Drunk Warrior pops up from it because when you start showing the moves that look "deadly" don't do any damage, what are you left with that still does?
