Dynamite Kansai vs. Tomoko Miyaguchi

A very good match that suffered a lot from a completely dead crowd. I realize that almost every women's crowd is dead these days, but the fans needed to get behind Miyaguchi for this match to truly work. Instead, what we got was an indifferent response to Miyaguchi really pushing Kansai. The match could have been excellent, but pacing was too slow and Kansai's bump taking was weak because her athleticism appears to be way down. The selling was probably the strongest point of the match. Even though Kansai won with her Splash Mountain as always, the match seemed to just kind of end.

Michael: Miyaguchi's selling was awesome, but Kansai's selling of her arm sucked. Miyaguchi was using all kinds of armbars on Kansai, both in and out of the ring, and Kansai didn't even sell them once she went back on offense. Kansai did sell her leg well once Tomoko switched from attacking the arm to attacking the leg.

Jason: I liked the story they were trying to tell at the first by having Miyaguchi taking the fight right to Kansai before the bell even rang, but not being able to control Kansai through brawling leads to Miyaguchi having to work over Kansai's arm through submissions. The rest of the match didn't work for me though because they never really followed up on what they started, especially when Kansai didn't sell her arm. Miyaguchi wasn't going to beat Kansai with power, so at every opportunity she should have gone back to working on Kansai's arm. She did go after Kansai's leg, but that looked more like Kansai thought they were going too fast and needed to waste a little bit more time before the finish.

Miko: I liked this match more than Mike did. Tomoko attacked strongly before Kansai even had her robe off, working a variety of arm bar submissions as well as brawling outside the ring with Kansai. At one point when the were outside the ring, Tomoko had a step over arm bar on Kansai, so Kansai used an umbrella to hook Tomoko's leg to break up the hold. Later, Tomoko hit the ref in order to keep attacking outside the ring. Overall, I liked the way the match built. Early on, Tomoko was challenging Kansai, but as the match wore on she had to counter more and more as Kansai picked up steam. Finally, on the third try Kansai got the Splash Mountain for the win.
