taped 2/11/99 Tokyo Korakuen
Hall (2,000 sellout) Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita vs. Toshiyo Yamada & Sonoko Kato |
|
A standard LCO match. It had the typical good work, good brawling, and good spots. LCO was once again pretty dominant. Even with Yamada involved, the outcome was never really in doubt. Yamada did nearly pin Mita in her reverse Gori special bomb, but that was about it. Mita wound up pinning her with the Death Valley bomb. It was a good solid match, but it wasn't really dramatic and I've seen the same basic thing too many times. Michael: I pretty much agree with what you said, but the last part is the sad thing because it seems that LCO are just content to do the same match everytime out nowadays. I didn't really see a purpose to the match. Kato seemed to not even be involved except for breaking up a couple of pins. The match just seemed to be there. It was like a typical LCO match, but I felt that Kato should've at least gotten something from it aside from not having to do the job. I guess you could've built a program between Mita and Yamada from this match since they were the main focus in the last few minutes, but you could've done that anyway and still have been able to at least nudge Kato a rung or two up the ladder.
