Zensedai Tournament Junkessho: Rieko Amano vs. Tomoko Miyaguchi |
|
This match was way too long. The work was good, but it was totally lacking in the mental aspects. I mean, the psychology, build, and storyline were pretty much non-existent. This was really disappointing because at this point an Amano vs. Miyaguchi match should always be *** or better. Jason: There was virtually no selling or psychology in this match. Amano seemed to forget to sell her leg numerous times after Miyaguchi had worked it over for significant periods of time. For instance, Amano just popped right up and ran up the turnbuckle at one point. She also kicked with her leg that was supposed to be injured. The only thing that they sold well was exhaustion, which isn't hard to sell in this long of a match. There was some slow points to the match, particularly the first five minutes where Amano just tried to avoid getting hurt by Miyaguchi's dropkicks and forearm strikes. Amano just waiting for the submission period made some sense, but she could have worked a little on Miyaguchi's arm in the first five minutes. As you wrote, the match was too long. They could have achieved *** rating by going half the time, speeding the match up, and using proper logic. Michael: I like Amano, but seeing her in over 30 minute singles matches on this show and the next show was a bit much. Special Thanks to: Jason Higgs & Michael Smith 30:00 + 2:07 overtime
