Azumi Hyuga vs. Kana Mizaki

Kana came into the match with no wins to speak of. Based on her "push," she had no business getting a title shot. She had an extremely slight chance of winning only because Azumi wasn't a strong champion. However, Kana had yet to prove she could beat anyone decent, so there would have been no point in her winning.

It was a good match because these two can work. They didn't really do any more than normal even though the title was on the line. To tell you the truth, they did more two years ago to make their junior title match special. Then again, they also seemed more motivated and less stressed out two years ago, so it shouldn't be too big of a surprise.

Azumi gave Kana a lot of offense because she needed credibility and was doing the job. Azumi seemed better on the mat here than in the past. Kana was kind of deliberate. She was mainly concerned with maintaining control, which was a little odd since Azumi doesn't have enough stature to warrant playing ball control with. Azumi went about business just the opposite of Kana, she made quick moves and took a lot of chances.

The action picked up when Azumi did an enzui knee off the apron then a springboard tope con hilo. It quickly slowed down though, as Kana blocked Kuzumi's spider German suplex and they exchanged blows. Azumi blocked Kana's fishermanbuster, so Kana did a tornado DDT instead. Kana went to the top rope, but Azumi cut her off and did the spider German suplex.

Kana came back with her la magistral, but no one bought it as a finisher. They avoided their finishers then Kana decked Azumi with a punch and actually did a moonsault! Kana avoided Azumi's Michinoku driver II, but Azumi punched her then did the diving enzui knee to set up the Michinoku driver II for the win.

They did a lot of moves, but as usual there wasn't really any direction or focus. They did do some good teases and counters, but the match didn't have the level of work or generate the level of excitement that it needed to. Both women's performances were good, just nothing exceptional.
