THE UNDERCARD TOURNAMENT:
Lady Metal (ARSION Mexico 3-15) vs. Fabi Apache (ARSION Mexico 3-17)

The Apache's father, Mexican wrestler Gran Apache, was the ref for this match. He did a backflip off the top rope before the match, which unfortunately turned out to be the highlight of this crummy match.

Fabi was a lot better here, as she wasn't blowing any of her spots and she wasn't clapping in between every offensive manuever. She also lost the high cut outfit, which normally wouldn't be an improvement, but it was because like almost all of the Mexican women wrestlers, she's not exactly trim and toned.

This was completely Lucha style, but the pacing was uneven and it lacked the flow and grace normally associated with Lucha. The match was too short to amount to anything, but if the point is to work from the ground up then this was a good start because they stayed within themselves and didn't blow anything. Of course, their spots still didn't look very impressive. Fabi won with tornado Apache, which starts like a Russian leg sweep, but instead she drops forward into a crucifix on the mat.

Keith: One of the problems about the Luchadores is that they're often fighting each other or getting squashed, so they get no heat. The other problem is that they have refused to change styles because of heritage in Lucha. Aside from Mari, the other Luchadores receive no push. The match itself wasn't as horrible as the triangle match at ARS or some of their previous encounters in '98. I do think Fabi improved in that she wasn't blowing spots, but Lady Metal really doesn't have any good spots. For instance, her reverse body attack that she uses when she comes off the ropes looks absolutely useless. This match was, for all intents and purposes, filler.

Jerome: It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but it still stunk. It was really third rate lucha action with weak spots. Metal is just useless. The tornado Apache looked cool but there was nothing beyond that.
