THE UNDERCARD TRIANGLE MATCH:
Lady Metal (1-1) vs. Fabi Apache (0-3) vs. Jessie Bennett (1-9)

"Until someone explained this situation to me, I honestly thought that this match was a handicap match because of the constant double teaming. The actual rules for the match were that one girl was supposed to stay in a corner, but Jessie, being the biggest opponent in the ring, was targeted initally by the Mexicans. You could see Jessie speaking with the referee prior to the beginning of the match, telling him to watch the girls. Afterwards, Jessie flipped off the girls and yelled at the referee because he didn't try to control the Mexicans' double teaming. So, they double teamed her to get the pin," wrote Keith.

If they would have done a handicap match, the quality probably would have been a little better. Simply put, asking three wrestlers who can't carry a regular match to try to pull off a triangle match is recipe for disaster. However, this match sucked because Jessie and Fabi are way too green and Metal, well, she just blows. It was all spots, and on paper this might sound like a "cool" match, but most of the spots weren't well executed. It wasn't even so much that they were blown, but that most of the individual spots lacked that certain something that makes them look good.

The match was slightly interesting when Jessie was involved because the double teaming wasn't bad, but Fabi used a moonsault off the second to put Jessie away in a mere 2:40. Still, the double teaming exemplified the typical ARSION problem, that there was not much of a reason for the event to happen. I guess the idea was that they ganged up on Jessie because she's a different nationality and works a different style, but then again, that sounds like one of those wonderful racist McMahon or Russo justifications.

"What was more confusing was that Fabi Apache would decide to team with the veteran Lady Metal to take out the bigger woman. Although Jessie is bigger than both woman in terms of weight and possibly power, she lacks experience to make her a big enough threat to Fabi," wrote Keith.

Keith brings up a good point. Theoretically, Metal should be the biggest threat to Fabi because she's been wrestling for several years longer than Fabi and Jessie combined. Probably the only thing scarier than these three trying to pull of a triangle match would be Fabi and Jessie trying to form a cohesive unit to take Metal out as part of a triangle match, so they went for the team that could stylistically function as a unit.

"Jessie did beat Fabi on the Aomori show on the 4/19/98, so Fabi's choice of partners might have been decided as a result of that show. Also, since both Metal and Fabi are from similar styles, the double team effort, at the end, is justifiable by both women. I wish Metal concentrated more on that, rather than trying so hard to get the audience to applaud. It winds up looking like she is stalling most of the time," wrote Keith.

After Jessie was eliminated, the match was truly awful. There was all kinds of hesitation and sloppiness from both Luchadores before Metal put Fabi away with La Mosquita. 6:20. 3/4*

Miko: This was a pretty bad match. Jesse was double teamed by the Mexicans most of the match, lasting only 2:40 and not showing much in that time. Then the Luchadoras squared off and showed that Jesse was not the only reason this match was not very good. The crowd was dead except for some occasional, half hearted cheers.
